CLASS 11

Do you agree with the writer? Why? Give at least 3 examples to support your answer.

I agree with some of ideas of the article but I disagree with some of them.

First, Ibuki Bunmei said "Teaching English may be necessary in the global community, but as a Japanese, one must first be able to speak proper Japanese". I think that's right. But when I come to take interest in another cultures, at the same time, my interest to Japanese and our own culture deepened more than before. That the study about another culture(like language) is leading to study our own culture, I guess.

Next, the writer said that leaning English is difficult in Japanese conformist society and Japanese student don't know that on the road to fluency, it's no shame, no gain. At this point, I want to think the reason why Japanese student can't speak English.
In my opinion, many student don't try to make efforts to master English. It because they don't have to speak English in their everyday's life and if they try to speak English, there is rarely opportunity. So if they study it, they can't use it in their life. And also it's difficult to master the other language. So student will be think it's not worth using their time and feeling shame in front of everyone in their English class.

I think the problem is Japanese location. Japan is island country and it closed from another countries in several meanings.
Masahiko Fujiwara's opinion is interesting and I think Japanese original culture is great, but I guess it makes Japanese have a provincial point of view and a lot of Japanese didn't even realize that they have a small view.

I think it's time to broaden our horizons. Because I feel it will help to avoid misunderstandings and to conceive prejudices. I want to believe if we try to understand each other, war or racial discrimination or any kind of misunderstanding between countries will be decrease.
And I'm sure that studying English will give us an good opportunity to see another world and know and learn about another cultures. That's why we have to learn English.

CLASS 11

Do you agree or disagree with the author (who is Japanese). Please explain why in your blog.

I think it is true. I feel the same way as her. But I think we should not demand too much from male. "There's no profit to be gained""Girls are a hassle, they expect me to call, I have to buy them gifts and that would cost money love relationship" a man said that. The auther blamed male who have such mind, right? I think he said because he didn't meet the woman who he wants to stay together. I hate the guy who just wants to have girlfriend. So I think he is kind of sincere person.
I'm always looking for true love. But when I try to find out who love me and who just want to have physical relationship with me, my preconceived idea of man or doubt about man or lie for love strategy interfere. That hide the truth.
So, in my opinion, we should not demand or have such idea about man. Because I feel it makes love relationship complicate more.

CLASS 10

Have you ever eaten in a foreign restaurant? Where? What did you eat? Did you make any mistakes? Please explain your experience. Did you learn anything?

Yes, I have. When I was in America, I went to a restaurant with some friends. We knew that we have to leave some money as a tip on the table. But it was the first time we went to the restaurant and when we get our check we found there already contained service charges. We didn't know whether we have to give the waiter a tip or not. So we waited for a family who was sitting at the next table leaving. When we found there was no money left their table, we left there.
In the class, I learned that there were a lot of table manners in each country. If I don't know the right manner, I will be rude. I found that it's important to know each contry's table manners. I want to eat more freely though...

Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea? Eloping? Having it in a foreign location like Hawaii?

Marriage or wedding is one of the big events in my life. So I want to have a special wedding. Although I don't like a massive wedding, it is one of choice.

What is your ideal wedding? What would you definitely do or wear or go to on that big day? Why is that important?

I don't want to marry at all yet, so I don't have any images of my wedding. Besides I don't have boyfriend... Wedding is not only for me but for my fiance. So I can't imagine it. But I'm sure that I'll wear a wedding dress.
